The only way to size a furnace or air conditioner for your home is to do a heat load calculation. The capacity needed is based upon how quickly your home gains or loses heat, not by square footage alone.
More than likely, it’s either low on refrigerant or low on airflow. As a homeowner, replace your filter and allow the unit to thaw. If the problem reoccurs, call BCI Mechanical to schedule service on your system. We recommend having annual maintenance tune-up performed to keep your system in peak operating condition. Ask your BCI representative about our maintenance tune-up agreement program.
Two times a year. Have your heating and cooling system professionally checked each spring and fall to ensure maximum safe performance, maximum energy efficiency, and maximum equipment life. You will be surprised how inexpensive this service is! Please refer to the Planned Maintenance page via the menu selection bar.
No. Do not block off or close any air vents completely. Your system was designed for a certain amount of air flow and will not function as well as possible if improperly modified.
Yes. However, we recommend that plants be no closer than 18 inches from the unit. This allows for plenty of room for air circulation in and out of the unit. Without this room for air circulation, the unit could overheat, resulting in a premature need for service.
Replace your air filter frequently. Under normal conditions, a 1? filter should be replaced monthly and a 4? filter should be replaced twice annually.
